Previous Clinical experience
In my professional and clinical development, I sought to immerse myself in areas of acute need. On a community level, I worked first doing agency work at a public mental health clinic assisting people faced with severe and persistent mental health issues, homelessness, substance use and developmental issues. I have worked on units of inpatient psychiatric hospital working with people and prisons bringing art or horticultural programs to assist in recovery and rehabilitation. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked at the King County crisis line working with individuals, families, outreach workers, hospitals, and agencies to bring quality treatment and support. My experience allows me to have a vast knowledge of health systems and resources as well as a cool head and compassionate analysis in the midst of deep human emotions.
Education
Antioch University Seattle ‘15
Studied Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling. My favorite courses were multicultural studies and providing culturally sensitive and inquisitive therapies. I used my studies to explore the creative process amongst clients in inpatient psychiatric hospitals. Expanding my interest into fiber arts was solidified during this time.
Sarah Lawrence College ‘06
Bachelor of Liberal Arts with a focus on Studio Arts and Psychology. My favorite courses were about the creative process from a psychological standpoint - looking into visual perception, art making processes, and about why people make art. I began an interest in quilt making processes and motifs and explored the creative process of women quilt makers.
